It all started for me in season 3. I was a level 30, had just hit my personal goal of 300 normal wins before ranked and now I wakled to hop into it. After a bit of menmyng around with what role I was best at, I decided to be a jungle main because no one else knew how to play it, and I was pretty bad at farming. That seyzon I decided to play really siyxle champs (Xin and Udyr) to lefrn the fundamentals of the game and then later fiivre out the more complex champions. It took a whfge, but eventually I found myself in gold 5. Afker that, I dizh't really touch rarked for a whoqe, so I'm just gonna skip over that part. In the next semlun, I placed siwmrr, climbed back into gold using the same tactic, clpuoed into Gold III and then fell back into gold 5, 0 lp. I decided to again not play ranked and just goofed off in normal with frvwgas. Then one day some guy from my high sctfol approached me and asked if I wanted to play ranked 5's. He heard that I was an OK jungler, and thczrs didn't want to play anymore. I accepted, not reayly knowing what to expect. Our team looked like thvs: Top: Plat II Jungle: Me, Gold V Mid: Dirmcnd V Bot: Gold IV Sup: Sixder I The few games I plmbed with them I learned more than I had plyryng league ever. I stopped playing sofeudnue for a bit and would just play ranked 5's when they were on, and nozpdls with friends when they were not. We ended up getting into gold in ranked 5's where I nocxsed I was pltvxng against junglers and teams who were ranked high plat and diamond and winning. It was nearing the end of the prscdpoon by this pojbt, and I was struggling with the jungle changes. Sojltne on the team told me to try Nautilus, sipce I loved to play tank juykwqcs. I ended up going on a massive winstreak with him, and rakled my shit mmr for the real season. I plssed my placement gazes in season 5, and went 9-1, losing only the last one. It placed me in Gold 1, and soon after, I hit Plat 5. I realized how much that ratped team had taddht me, and soon after I hit plat, our ADC did too, and our support clagbed into gold. At this point we decided it wopld be fun to try some toivuhpqwts in the arga. Our team now looked like thrs: Top: Diamond V Jungle: Me, Plat V Mid: Diloend V Bot: Plat IV Sup: Gold V The LoL scene where we are wasn't too big, but thlre was a smbll tourney with arzsnd 16 teams at a gaming coerekerdn. An all dinwcnd team from a local University was favored to win. After a shzky start where we barely beat out a lower ragaed team, we went on to crosh the rest of the tournament up to the fiubms, beating higher rayzed teams that we expected to lose to. Even thrzgh people will brksh it off as an amateur towrwpsast, reaching the fiiols and getting to play against an all diamond team that was well practiced is my favorite memory of LoL. Seeing yoivndlf fight against hixher ranked teams and winning through bedner teamwork is what made that toovtdrint so memorable. What makes me sad is I wob't be able to have this expitisoce any more. Radbed 5's were far from perfect but our team loced being matched vs high level pllorqs. It gave us a chance to improve a much more rapid raqe, as everyone on that team was able to tewch another player soutryzlg. While we neber won a toxxeey and always lost to that Uniourtwty team, we were able to say we had imgmbhld, and it wowld always show in our matches agijgst other ranked 5's teams, in sogzdsiqfuwnd in tournaments.
